In the Simla Hills, Yogīs form a sort of occupational caste, as just stated, burning the bodies of the dead and receiving certain perquisites for the service. From the fact that they take offerings made at death, Kanets and higher castes will not drink with them. They wear ear-rings, but rank below Kānphaṭas.¹
