(6) Kaṇṭharnāth (Kaṇṭhaḍnāth). Some say that this group trace their origin to Gorakhnāth, others to Gaṇeśa. In Ambāla they are an endogamous panth of householders.³ At Kāṇṭhkot they worship Gaṇeśa and Kaṇṭhaḍnāth, using the latter name while telling their beads. Here Kaṇṭhaḍnāth is worshipped twice a day. His followers take the vow of celibacy. In almost all of their customs they resemble the Dhinodhar Kānphaṭas.⁴ However, in the west Kaṇṭhaḍnāthīs often marry; but the fathers do not eat with their children until their ears have been split and other dedicatory rites have been performed.⁵
