¹ *gadya-padyamayī rāja-stutir birudam ucyate*, Sāhitya-darpaṇa, vi. 236, but nothing is known of the work, *Biruda-maṇi-mālā*, which it cites in illustration. The description of the *Birudāvalī* of Raghudeva of Mithilā, given by Aufrecht in his Oxford Catalogue of Sanskrit MSS. no. 224, is too indefinite for any conclusion.
