² Advaita asks: (v. 21) *keyam līlā vyarati bhavatā yo'yam advaita-bhājām | aryantesfas tam adhīta bhavān āśramam yat turīyam ||*, to which Caitanya replies: *bho advaita smara kimu vayam hanta nādvaita-bhājo | bhedas tasmin tvayi ca yad iyān rūpato liṅgataś ca ||*, implying that Caitanya believed that his being an Advaita Saṃnyāsin was not inconsistent with his devotional attitude of Bhakti. Caitanya is again reported to have said (viii—opening passage) that he was not impressed by the Rāmānuja and the Madhva sects whom he had met in Southern India: *kiyanta eva vaiṣṇavā dṛṣṭāḥ, te pi nārāyaṇo-pāsakā eva; apare tattva-vādinaḥ, te tathāvidhā eva; niravadyam na bhavati teṣām matam*. And all this inspite of Karṇapūra's own *Gaura-gaṇoddeśa*.
