² Kṛṣṇadāsa informs us that Caitanya used to address him as Baḍa Bhāi (elder brother). This is probably the source of the curious mistake, repeated by R. G. Bhandarkar (*Vaiṣṇavism*, Strassburg 1913, p. 83) of identifying Nityānanda with Caitanya's elder brother Viśvarūpa. This mistake has been perpetuated in Aufrecht's *Catalogus Catalogorum* i, p. 190a.
