In the *Mahāvaṃsa*² and the *Mañjuśrī-mūlakalpa*³ (henceforth abbreviated as *Mmk.*), Ajātasattu’s enthusiasm for rendering service to the new religion is referred to but there is no evidence to show that his interest for the propagation of the religion was anything notable.
