v2.c34.s3.57
According to the *Andhakas*, an adept who is in the eighth stage i.e., *sotāpatti-maggaṭṭha* and not yet *sotāpanna* gets rid of *diṭṭhipariyuṭṭhāna*, *sīlabbata-p.* and *vicikicchā-p.* but not *diṭṭhi-anusaya*, *sīlabbata-a.*, and *vicikiccha-a.*, i.e., the *anusayas* may become active (*uppajissati*) if they receive an impulse. The Andhakas by drawing this distinction between *pariyuṭṭhāna* and *anusaya* hold that an *aṭṭhamaka* may not get rid of the three *anusayas* and consequently remain away from the *sotāpanna* stage for a long time.¹
