In conclusion, I must confess that the book is a very humble attempt to give a brief but accurate and authoritative sketch of Jainism. I am convinced that in its spirit and essential doctrines Jainism has that in it which satisfies the deepest and the most varied wants—mental and spiritual—of the men and women of our age; and if these *Outlines* should lead any of them to an understanding of the message and inspiration of Jainism, I shall be amply rewarded.
