The name ‘Heaven’ is applied to that happy state which is entirely free from all touch of pain, and which, as such, is desired by all men. (*Prakaraṇapañchikā*, pp. 102-103.) This is a paraphrase of the well-known definition provided in the *Viṣṇu-Purāṇa*—
