Of the additional priests at the Soma sacrifice none have much importance or interest: the Subrahmaṇya was introduced because of a particular formula only,⁴ with which has been compared the Bahrām Yašt of the Avesta, and the Achāvāka is of special interest only because he is so obviously an introduction when the ritual was well defined, as is practically admitted in the Brāhmaṇas and in the ritual itself.⁵
