It is of interest to mention in conclusion the conjecture put forward by Weber² that the word taboo as *tābuva* was actually found in the Atharvaveda;³ it is clear that such a suggestion could not possibly be made good, and the idea has been rejected with almost entire unanimity by scholars.⁴
