v1.c9.8
³ ii. 9 of this text is an obvious interpolation mentioning sub-Vedic deities such as Brahman, the four-faced, and lotus-seated; Karāṭa, elephant-faced and tusked; Gaurī, mountain born; Viṣṇu as Keçava Nārāyaṇa, &c. Similar interpolations are found in other Vedic texts, especially in the Khilas, or Apocrypha, of the Rigveda, and as a rule no mention of them is made in this work.
