Guṇaprabha, to whom a hundred treatises are ascribed, was a native of Parvata or Mathurā, and proceeded from the school of Vasubandhu. He became the Guru of the King Harṣa, and numbered among his pupils Mitrasena, who, a man of 90 years, taught Huen Thsang. In his youth a Mahāyānist, Guṇaprabha passed in riper years to the Hinayāna⁸.
