Yama’s dwelling is in the remote recess of the sky (9, 113⁸). Of the three heavens two belong to Savitṛ and one to Yama¹ (1, 35⁶ cp. 10, 123⁶), this being the third and highest (cp. § 73). The VS. (12, 63) speaks of him along with Yāmī as being in the highest heaven. In his abode (*sādana*²) which is the home of the gods (*devamāna*) Yama is surrounded by songs and the sound of the flute (10, 135⁷).
