The first, from the Aitareya Brāhmaṇa, iii. 33, has, no doubt (along with the passage of the Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa just referred to, and another from the same work, xiv. 4, 2, 1 ff., quoted above, in p. 24 ff.), furnished the ideas which are expanded in the later versions of the story.
