† Thus also when the Buddhists say: “Uruvelakassapo mahâsamaṇe (i.e. bhagavati) brahmacariyaṃ carati,” this amounts to the same as when it is said in the “Chândogya Upanishad”: “Maghavân Prajâpatau brahmacaryam uvâsa;” when Indra resolves to enter into this relation of pupil, it is said of him “abhipravavrâja.”
