† How far the official construction of Church history current in Ceylon has understood the post of the Vinayapâmokkhâ ("Heads of the Church Law") as that of a primate, I do not pretend to determine. But this very notion of the Vinayapâmokkhâ, wholly foreign to the ancient Church law, shows that here we meet a not happy fictitious construction of history.
