It is necessary for us in our inquiry, at first to leave the Rik-Samhitâ out of sight, and first to ask the question, what stocks have had a share in the spiritual movements, which are indicated by the Brâhmana texts and kindred literature. On the basis of the results hereby gained we shall then attempt to determine how the group of peoples appearing in the Rik-Samhitâ are related to the great Indian cultured peoples of later times.
