In his first lecture the author has tried to draw a distinction between the worship of Urukrama-Vishṇu which is as old as the Ṛig Veda, and the *Bhakti* religion known as Vaishnavism. He then tries to show that this *Bhakti* religion is not a plagiarism from Christianity, but owes its origin to Vāsudeva.
