Another classification of the bodhisattva’s career made by the Bodhisattvabhūmi, a Yogāchāra elaboration, is the division into twelve (or including the Buddha stage) thirteen vihāras, “abodes.” It is a scholastic addition which does not carry the conception any further.¹
