Lalla was the grandson of Śāmba and son of Bhaṭṭa Trivikrama. His *Śiṣyadhīvṛddhida*³ in one thousand ślokas is fully devoted to astronomy. The work contains some important information on trigonometry. He was associated with the school of Kusumpura and his work was based on the *Āryabhaṭīya* of Āryabhaṭa I. Lalla has written two other works namely, *Pāṭīgaṇita* and *Siddhāntatilaka* both of them are now lost. Only references are available in later works.¹ The *Pāṭīgaṇita* dealt exclusively with mathematics, whereas the *Siddhāntatilaka* which was similar to the *Brāhmasphuṭasiddhānta* contained chapters on arithmetic and algebra.
