Jyeṣṭhadeva was a Nambūtiri Brāhman of Paṟaṅṅoṭṭu family in Ālatture village. He was one of the students of Dāmodara. Jyeṣṭhadeva was the teacher of Acyuta Piṣāraṭi of Tṟkkaṇṭiyūr who refers to him in his *Uparāgakriyākrama* (vide infra).
