¹ The *Kalpasūtras* form one of the six *Vedāṅgas*. They are broadly divided into two classes viz. the *Gṛhyasūtras*, the rules for ceremonies relating to family or domestic affairs, and the *Śrautasūtras*, the rules for ceremonies ordained by the Veda such as the preservation of sacred fires, performance of sacrifices etc.
