In ancient Indian Mathematics, Trigonometry forms an integral part of Astronomy. It is undoubtedly a later development. Earliest reference to trigonometrical concept is found in the *Sūryasidhānta* ( c. 400 A. D. ), *Pañcasiddhāntikā* of Varāhamihira (c. 505 A.D.) *Brāhmasphuṭasiddhānta* of Brahmagupta ( c. 628 A.D. ) *Śiṣyadhivṛddhida* of Lalla ( 768 A.D. ). More or less systematic study on the subject was made by Bhāskara II ( c. 1150 A. D. ) in the section on *Jyotpatti* in his *Siddhāntaśiromaṇi* and by Kamalākara in the *Sphuṭādhyāya* chapter of his *Siddhāntatattvaviveka*.
