¹ *ācāryānām padaviṃ jyotpattyā jñātayā yato yāti* ( *Siddhāntaśiromaṇi-jyotpatti*, sl. 1 ) "The *ācārya* ( master ) title ( in astronomy ) is offered on him who has acquired sufficient knowledge of trigonometry".
