The Vedic period and Ayurvedic period found considerable growth in mining and mineral industry. The *Ṛgveda*, the oldest composition of the Aryans mentions the use of copper, bronze, gold and silver and *Yajurveda* mentions gold, silver, copper, lead, tin and iron. In the Ayurvedic period remarkable developments took place in ancient India.
