(v) Gold and Silver Foil Technology - Some times gold and Silver foils were also applied to the surface to obtain a thicker coating. These foils were produced by putting a small piece of the metal in between two layers of Chamoi leather and beating it till a very tin foil of the metal was produced. This thin foil was lifted on paper, to give backing support and stored till applied to the surface. Gold and silver foils were also used to decorate food stuff and pan etc. The Ayurvedic medicinal system mentions the beneficial therapeutic use of these foils and curing some of the diseases.
