As regards their uses these are used externally or internally for obtaining Rasayana effects and for curing various diseases. During the period of ‘*Caraka Samhitā*’ the metals are advised for internal use in the form of very fine powder i.e. as fine as ‘*añjana*’ (Collyriums) applicable to the eyes.
