Varahamihira’s *Bṛhatsamhita* (500 A.D., XV.12 and XVI.18) mentions the word *gandhayukti*, “blending of perfumes”, as one of the arts in which persons born under the constellation *citra* and under planet *Budha* are skilled (Bhatt 1982, Part.1, pp.187,196).
