4. *Upaśaya*: It is a technique of diagnosis by utilising therapeutic test usually applied in cases where the etiology and symptomatology of a disease do not give conclusive clue to the predominance of *doṣa*. This diagnostic therapy is used in the form of diet, drug and or any other remedial measure to find out the original nature of disease.
