2. *Sparśana Parīkṣā (Palpation)* (CS. In. 3.3.): It is the hands of the physician that are essential for this examination. Through this technique physican can get the knowledge regarding ‘Gunas’ like *Śīta*, *Uṣṇa*, *Mṛdu*, *Kaṭhina* etc. (qualities such as heat, cold, soft, hard and many other *spandanas* or pulsations); *sat* and *asat* *bhāvas*.
