1. *Prakṛti*: Total constitution of the foetus is genetically determined by (1) Sperm and Ovum, (2) Seasons and Conditions of the Uterus, (3) Food and regimen of the mother and (4) Nature of the *Mahābhūtas* comprising the foetus. The foetus gets characterised with one or more of the *doṣas* which are dominantly associated with the above mentioned factors when they initially unite in the form of foetus.
