It was certainly easier and more expedient to prepare sculptures or carvings on the ground and then fix them up to the structure. But sometimes problem arose when a sculptured wall juxtaposed or met the surface of another sculptured or carved member. In such cases coordination at the junction became often difficult and one or the other had to be partly concealed or sacrificed, as seen sometimes at the junction of the sculptured wall and the projecting kakṣāsana of the exterior on temples such as Khajuraho.
