v1.c10.s3.t3.8

Hakra or Sarasvati was a perennial river till the middle of the third millennium BC, when the water supply between Fort Abbas (on the Pakistan side of the border) and Yazman was considerably diminished or cut off. This might have caused desertion of sites and some population movement back to north-east. This reversal of population movement vector might explain the replacement of the earlier Sothi culture by the Harappan culture in the eastern sites of Sarasvati such as Kalibangan, Banawali etc.
