Mortars found in Harappa (seven samples) assayed 26-56 per cent calcium carbonate, 0.44-10.6 per cent magnesium carbonate, 34-61 per cent clay, up to 4 per cent moisture, and in one case 57 per cent gypsum. Materials made of shell were quite common. (MSV, 467-69)
