v1.c14.1

LOTHAL lies between two ranns or salt-wastes, namely the Rann of Cambay on the south and the Little Rann of Kutch on the north, with the Nal Lake in the centre. The site Lothal is actually about 52 miles from Ahmedabad. The ancient mound is sandwiched between the Bhogava and Sabarmati rivers. More clearly it may be said that the mound is situated 4 miles away from Bhurki, a small railway station renamed Lothal-Bhurkhi on the meter-guage line of the Ahmedabad-Bhavanagar section of the Western Railway. (Rao, 18-19)
