v1.c16.s2.t2.1

On the basis of C-14 determination, Eran, situated on the river bank of Bina, a tributary of Betwa river, has been suggested to be the earliest home of the black painted red ware or the black-on-red ware, known hitherto as the Malwa ware. The site is located 300 km north-east of Navdatoli and at Tripuri near Jabalpur on the Narmada river. The C-14 determination indicates that the Chalcolithic Culture at this site extended from c. 1700-1170 BC. (Allchins, 1983: 269)
