The specimens from Mahurjhari, Takalghat and Naikund show high percentages of pure iron — 99.1, 99.6 and 98.2 per cent respectively. Whereas Takalghat sample of iron does not contain any appreciable amount of carbon, Mahurjhari specimen contains 0.9 per cent carbon and Naikund sample has a little over 1 per cent of carbon. These figures show a basic identity of technology and suggests professional expertise. Gogte (1983) examined the Mahurjhari sample; evidence of banded structure, widmanstätten structure, ferrite and pearlite indicated that the iron pieces were forged at high temperature.
