v1.c22.s6.10
It is surprising that Taxilians did not make much of the modern gun-metal type of bronze containing 8-12 per cent tin, which possesses great strength and elasticity. The ram-headed handle No. 16 containing 11.66 per cent tin, was evidently hollow cast by the cire perdue process. The Taxilians preferred high tin bronze presumably on account of its easy melting and casting properties. (Their preference also indicates easy availability of the metal from Afghanistan).
