v1.c24.1
The Roman trade with India started around 25 BC and continued for more than three centuries. From the written accounts of the sailors and historians of the Greek origin residing around Alexandria, Egypt, and serving under the Roman empire, we obtain a wealth of information regarding the excellence of India's mineral treasures and technical expertise in processing them to metallic and other commodities. A glimpse of the political history of this period in India may be obtained from the table provided in our chapter on Taxila. In this chapter we provide the complementary table on dates relevant to the Indo-Roman trade during the said period. (Table 16.1)
