v1.c24.s1.1

Warmington (1928, 1974: 235-60) based his excellent treatise on mineral products in the Indo-Roman trade on the early travellers' reports, specially Pliny's thirty-seventh book and arranged a mineral-wise discussion based on E.S. Dana's *System of Mineralogy*. We would also follow a similar classification, starting with oxides such as quartz and corundum-related minerals etc., then silicates, then element like diamond and lastly the metals. Exports from India would be discussed chiefly; imports into India would also be mentioned.
