v1.c25.s6.2
In the previous two chapters (15 and 16) we have recorded the accounts of Graeco-Roman travellers regarding the Indian gems and minerals. The Vol. II of our monograph (specially chapter 7 therein) contains the references on the subject in the Sanskrit literatures—*Rgveda* to *Rasaratnasamuccaya*—spanning over a period of more than two millennia, and yet nothing can compensate the absence of C-14 and archaeological data for the possible ancient workings.
