(a) 18-24 miles NNE of Udaipur — villages near Delwara. About 17 old openings were found near Kotri, Vilota and Delwara; 25 old openings near Keroli-Piplia area. The deepest opening (125 ft deep) was near Kotri. Vilota showed mining activity only but no smelting, whereas Kotli, Piplia and Delwara showed both mining and smelting; large heaps of slag were found in these areas. Rejected malachite-stained quartz pieces showed that very careful selective mining was done.
