In the neighbouring villages the used brinjal-shaped retorts have been utilised as components of building-walls and this has always been a familiar sight although people forgot how and where these retorts were used. Attention has been drawn to the huge quantity of zinc extraction debris at Zawar (Carsus, 1960; Straczek and Srikantan, 1967) and the deep mine shafts. (Mookherje, 1964: 657-677)
