v1.c28.s7.t4.1
During the beginning of the third century BC, the metal-smiths of Taxila, who had developed the die-striking technique indigenously, were convinced of the superiority of the circulating Greek coins, die-struck on both sides, and switched over to the new technology. This technology spread to the other parts of the sub-continent. The early gold coins of the Imperial Guptas, who issued fine die-struck pieces, were made following the earlier Kuṣāṇa tradition.
