v1.c28.s8.t1.15

There might have been regional scarcities such as of lead in Akota of seventh century AD, of zinc in Lilvadeva during the period eighth-ninth century AD and of tin in Lilvadeva during eleventh century AD. Particular compositions could reflect comtemporary and local art styles apart from the availability/scarcity of the constituent metals. We do not find much use of tin in the Gujarat icons after tenth century AD, whereas this metal continued to be popular in South India as attested in the composition of Cola bronzes.
