THE present study deals with the production and use of minerals and metals in ancient India. The ‘ancient’ period provisionally ends in AD 1200, and ‘India’ covers the sub-continent including the present Pakistan and Bangladesh; occasionally references would be made to Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Tibet also.
