Kauṭilīya Arthaśāstra (2.11.30) mentioned puṣyarāga as a gem, yellow like turmeric. Buddhabhaṭṭa mentioned the same name adding that the gem came from the Himālayas. Navaratnaparīkṣā described the gem (NRP, 159):
