Zircon (*gomeda*) is coloured like cow-flesh (*gomeda*), also like cow-urine. It is transparent, smooth, and very heavy. It may be many-hued (*kabaddha*), white, light yellow or *piñjara* (reddish-yellow, golden, tawny brown); thus, it could have four ‘castes’ (*caturdhā jātiveda* in Agastimata Appendix 4-5 in Finot, p.134).
