We have earlier discussed the valuable references to gem minerals in *Bṛhatsaṃhitā* (*Bṛ. Saṃ.*), a composition belonging to the later part of the Gupta era (sixth century AD). This treatise also contains some useful references to rocks, non-gem materials and metals, which we propose to cite.
